The Cloisters: Catalyst for Meditation ~ September 25th at 10:30am
Join the Rev. Dr. Clare McPhereson in looking at the architecture as well as the artifacts of the Cloisters in order to understand how, as early medieval constructs, they are deliberately designed to enhance meditation and serve as catalysts for theological mindfulness as well. They are not just objects of art or religious decor, but part of the process, in other words.
Clare W. McPherson has taught at a variety of colleges and seminaries, including Union Seminary and General Seminary in New York, where he earned his Master of Divinity, Seabury-Western in Chicago, the University of Missouri, and Washington University in St. Louis, where he earned his Doctorate in literature, with a specialty in Old English. Fr. McPherson’s primary academic specialization remains the medieval period, especially the early Middle Ages. He currently is a professor at NYU and Fordham College Lincoln Center.
