Curriculum PDF Print E-mail
The curriculum at the Day School provides a balanced program for our students, allowing each child to develop skills at his or her own pace in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Socialization PDF Print E-mail
We believe that the ability to interact positively with peers and adults is important for a child's success both at home and at school.  Our primary focus is fostering successful socialization in all aspects of the child's experience.  We foster social development by embracing and respecting each child's unique personality and learning style.

Art PDF Print E-mail
Our warm environment has carefully ordered spaces that enable the children to function independently.  The children are exposed to a range of art processes, including painting, collage, and mixed media.  We encourage the children to experience the joy of creating art, while also developing an aesthetic sensibility.

Chapel PDF Print E-mail

Our 4/5's class assembles weekly in the sanctuary to participate in a non-denominational Chapel service.  This gathering provides an opportunity to share in various traditions and beliefs, which encourages the children to have an appreciation of cultural differences.

Math PDF Print E-mail

The children learn basic mathematical concepts through daily routines.  Manipulatives, such as puzzles, support sorting and sequencing skills.  Block building, which fosters the children's imagination, is an important aspect of our program, providing an introduction to geometry and size differentiation.  Our teachers incorporate math experiences into all areas of the curriculum.

Literacy PDF Print E-mail

The children experience the tactile pleasure of holding a book and turning a page daily.  The children have opportunities to read independently, with a friend, or with a teacher.  Also, small teacher-led reading groups allow each child to enjoy a story at an appropriate level of understanding - depending on language fluency, ability and attention level.

At the writing table, children make marks, draw, write letters and words, and explore writing samples of names, letters, and numbers.

Our library collection continues to expand.  Having this valuable resource within our School enhances our ability to bring books into the curriculum and allows the children to conduct research on any topic of interest.

Cooking PDF Print E-mail

The 2's class participates in weekly sensory experiences.  The activity is process based, allowing the children the freedom to explore the materials.  The 3's class learns how to follow a recipe to completion.  They produce materials such as play dough, which is used in the classroom.  Our 4/5's class bakes a nutritious snack each week.

Music PDF Print E-mail

Music is an integral part of our school culture.  Our children sing daily, accompanied by a guitarist.  There also is a weekly family sing along.  This is a wonderful opportunity for families to be part of the school community, and to learn the many songs that their children might sing at home.  There is also a professional voice coach, who works with our classes once a week.

Movement and Yoga PDF Print E-mail

Movement and gross-motor play are naturally integrated into our daily routine.  A yoga specialist meets with the children weekly.
