DR. SAMUEL YEH HONORED BY CHINATOWN HEALTH CLINIC FOUNDATION

Parishioner Samuel D.J. Yeh, M.D., Sc.D., was born in Kunming, Chinal.  In 1948, Dr. Yeh graduated from the National Defense Medical Center where he studied medicine, and went on to receive an Sc.D. in biochemistry at Johns Hopkins University in 1960.  He is currently an Attending Physician of Nuclear Medicine, Endocrinology and Clinical Chemistry at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, as well as an Associate Professor of Medicine at Weill Medial College of Cornell University.

Throughout his years of medical practice, Dr. Yeh has long been recognized as a compassionate doctor who has earned the respect of colleagues and patients alike. Among his many noteworthy accomplishments are the 1983 CAMS Service Award, the 1990 Gouverneur Hospital Emily Dunning Barringer Award, the 1993 CAMS Annual Scientific Award, and the 1998 CAMS Special Community Service Award.  Dr. Yeh is a former Executive Committee Member of the US-China Medical Exchange Program of the CAMS-China Institute. 

On September 29, 2004, he was recognized for his distinctive contribution as one of three founding physicians and volunteer physician of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center.  Dr. Yeh’s deep commitment to the Chinese-American community has helped deliver quality and affordable health care to the medically underserved.  The Chinatown Health Clinic Foundation and Charles B. Wang Community Health Center were proud to honor him at their 33rd Annual Benefit Dinner.

 


 

EPIPHANY SAYS FAREWELL TO A SEMINARIAN AND A DEACON

The Church of the Epiphany said goodbye to our senior seminarian, Melanie Dickson Lemburg, on April 25 at the 11am service. Melanie and her husband, David Lemburg, are moving to Mississippi to begin their joint ministries as transitional deacons at two parishes.  On June 6 we will bid farewell to the Rev. Mary Ogus, who has served as our Deacon this year, as she and her family move to North Carolina to begin a ministry as Rector of a parish there. 


SISTER ELLEN FRANCIS, OSH, SPEAKS ABOUT TRIP TO AFGHANISTAN

Sister Ellen Francis, OSH, spoke on May 9 after the 11am service about her recent trip to Afghanistan with a group of women, including parishioners Mary Lou Chin and Alison Garnjost.  If you missed her presentation, look for a synopsis in the next edition of the Manifest. 


 THE REV. STEPHEN HARDING APPOINTED FDNY CHAPLAIN

Epiphany's Priest Associate for Healing Ministries, The Reverend Stephen R. Harding, has been appointed as one of the Fire Department's eight chaplains. The story was reported on CNN and NY1. Here is a link to the online story.
