An Important Message from the Church of the Epiphany
Dear Church of the Epiphany community,
As a result of recent testing, we learned today that Fr. Roy Cole has a confirmed case of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus) due to recent direct contact with someone who is also confirmed as having a case of the virus. He has been discharged from the hospital, is following all instructions, and receiving good care. He requires rest and will not be able to respond to calls or emails. He most appreciates your love, prayers, and good wishes. You will hear from him directly in the next few days. In the meantime, for pastoral care concerns, please reach out to our Associate Rector, Mo. Elise Hanley, by email at [email protected] or her mobile phone, 646.470.5782. For matters concerning the operations of the church, please reach out to Laura Noggle at [email protected]
We know this information could seem alarming, and we ask that our community remain calm as we are taking an abundance of precaution moving forward. The Department of Health has recommended a 14 day self-isolation period for anyone who may have come into contact with Fr. Roy since Sunday, February 23 - which includes many on the church staff. In the coming days, after a thorough investigation, the Church community will be advised as to how we should proceed. At this time, in addition to the professional disinfecting of the church building, we have decided to close the Church and School Facility through Sunday, March 15 - this includes the cancelling of our 8:30am, 10:30am, and 5:00pm Sunday Services. All outside groups that use our space are being advised that they must also cancel their meetings and events through Sunday.
The health and safety of all our parishioners, staff, volunteers, and all people who pass through our doors is our number one priority. We will keep you updated as further information becomes available. The clergy and wardens are in conversation with Bishop Dietsche, who is providing pastoral care and guidance in response to the situation.
Please contact your healthcare provider if you experience symptoms consistent with COVID-19 including fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
If you have questions or concerns, you may reply to this email directly.
Thank you, God bless you, and stay well.
O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers: Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your servant Fr. Roy and all who are sick the help of your power, that their sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
