Epiphany is a 2019 Sustainable Development Goals Grant Recipient
In 2015, the UN adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals seeking to end poverty, to protect and care for the planet and to fight injustice and inequality. These were adopted by the U.S. and the Episcopal Church. Subsequently, a resolution was passed at General Convention requesting each diocese to give .07% of its annual budget to international development programs. In response, the Episcopal Diocese of New York created the Sustainable Development Goals Fund.
Last Saturday, our church received a $15,000 grant to help Iraqi Christians on the Nineveh Plain restore the chicken industry destroyed by ISIS. The presentation was made during the annual Global Mission Fair held at Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. Carron Donohue attended and accepted the award for Epiphany. We will be partnering with Stand for Iraqi Christians to utilize these funds in establishing chicken farms in the area. Click here to learn more about the chicken farming program.
