You’re Invited: Fourth Annual Global Mission Fair
The Church of the Epiphany has a long standing commitment to international partnerships and both local and global mission. Recently, as you may remember, the parish stepped forward with two exciting new initiatives: a partnership with Cruzando Fronteras, a border ministry of the Diocese of Arizona, and with St. George's Anglican Church, Baghdad, Stand with Iraqi Christians, (SWIC) a ministry of the Diocese of Pennsylvania, and International Christian Concern (ICC), an NGO, to participate in a pilot project to redevelop poultry farming in Iraq. Poultry farming has been the mainstay of the economy of the majority of the few remaining Christian communities in Iraq.Over the course of the war this industry, and the livelihood of many Iraqi Christians, has been all but whipped out.Through the efforts of Helen Goodkin of this parish and the support of the Warden and Vestry, Epiphany has submitted a grant to the Sustainable Development Goals Fund of our diocese to help redevelop this much needed industry and return a measure of economic stability to the Christian community in Iraq.
These exciting new partnerships are in addition to the parish’s existing international relationships with the Church of the Epiphany in Qatar and All Hollows by the Tower in London.Epiphany deeply values missions and is consistently open to new opportunities to expand the reach of the parish beyond the Upper East Side and Manhattan. One of the ways to do that is engaging in dialogue other parishes in the diocese that have a similar focus on mission so as to learn from one another, build sustainable networks for mission, and discover the myriad of ways in which God is working in and through His children.
On Saturday, October 12th, The Episcopal Diocese of New York and the Global Mission Commission will sponsor the 4th Annual Global Mission Fair at Christ Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie.Complementary round-trip bus service from Manhattan is being provided by the Global Mission Commission.Included with this edition of the Manifest is a flyer from the Commission providing information about this important diocesan event. Please consider attending this informative and spiritually enriching day and discover not only how other parishes bring mission into their daily life and work but how the Church of the Epiphany can enhance its servant-leadership role in the diocese and beyond. If you plan to attend please register at www.Dioceseny.org/gmFair19 and RSVP your reservation to Precious Bradby at Bra[email protected].
