How long will the church be closed?
Bishop Andrew Dietsche has suspended all public worship in the Episcopal Diocese of New York at this time. The Rt. Rev. Andrew Dietsche, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, has written a letter giving his recommendation to parishes as we plan toward resuming public worship after July 1st. To view Bishop Dietsche's letter please click this link: Bishop Diestche on Resuming Public Worship Will we be having any worship services? We will observe Morning Prayer online at 10:30 am this Sunday, followed by an online Coffee Hour at 11:30. The church will be using Zoom for these services. See below for how to join these services by video conferencing (Zoom) or phone this Sunday. Please know we are actively exploring other ways to keep our community together in worship, prayer, and fellowship through the use of online resources. Please see the Zoom Instructions Section below this FAQ for all the instructions to join us this Sunday.
Are the church offices closed?
The Church office is opened and all staff are practicing social distancing. Calls are welcomed and appointments will be scheduled to enter the building for in-person meetings.
What is happening to the Wednesday Night Dinner? The Dinner is up and running every Wednesday from 6pm-730pm, distributing “Take out” dinners, as many other faith based programs are doing.
What is happening to Carter Burden?
Carter Burden continues meal distribution to senior adults in front of the church entrance on East 74th Street on Fridays. They are serving takeaway meals, social services will be available via telephone, and the staff will make outreach calls to check-in on all participants. Epiphany is doing all that we can to support them in their efforts. For more information, please visit their website at http://www.carterburdennetwork.org/
What is happening to all other events and meetings that meet at the church? We are informing all of our 12-step groups and community classes that for the near future we are unable to host their groups. No meetings before fall at the earliest; we do not have a hard date set for when events can resume; we will be periodically reevaluating as new info becomes available.
If you are a member of a 12-step group needing support in this time of social distancing and self-isolation, please see this online source for obtaining that support.
During the shutdown period did Epiphany continue to pay staff? Yes, all full-time and part-time staff have received their full compensation and benefits during shutdown.
What is happening with CEDS? CEDS will start the school year on schedule for the Fall. The staff and teachers will be developing numerous scenarios and resources for all our CEDS students and families.
What is happening with 351 E. 74th Street?
The site was functionally closed due to the mandatory NY on Pause. Construction resumed when Phase 2 opened in NY. The Construction office has been following CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting the workspace. Shawmut, our construction manager, has been regularly checking in with sub-contractors and suppliers to confirm that construction supplies and work crews remain on schedule.
